Bunk beds testing & certification / high bed Testing & certificationBunk bed is set of components that can be assembled as beds, one above the other, the upper surface of the top bed base of which is 600 mm or more above floor level. The loads and forces in the strength and durability tests apply to beds with an internal length greater than 140 cm and a maximum bed base width of 120 cm. The dimensional requirements are intended to minimise the risk of accidents, particularly to children. The testing requirements are intended to represent use by one occupant per bed.We assess safety, stability, strength and durability of bunk beds and high beds according to EN 747-1:2012+A1:2015 and EN 747-2:2012+A1:201CDG provides bunk bed testing services in India. Contact us for bunk bed certification as per international standards.Bunk beds for sale in India should comply with EN 747-1:2012+A1:2015 – ''''''''Furniture – Bunk beds and high beds – Part 1: Safety, strength and durability requirements''''''''. Testing is carried out using the methods in EN 747-2:2012+A1:2015 – ''''''''Furniture – Bunk beds and high beds – Part 2: Test methods''''''''.In 1999, the UK government published an analysis of accidents in the home, called ''''''''Research on the Pattern and Trends in Home Accidents''''''''. This showed that there were seven bed-related fatalities a year in the UK and 1,000 children are injured after falling from beds. The two EN 747 standards are designed to provide guidance to minimise the risk of accidents to children. UK legislation (Statutory Instrument 1987 No. 1337: The Bunk Beds (Entrapment Hazards) (Safety) Regulations 1987) used to do the same, but these have now been revoked (2012).These EN standards set specific dimensions concerning permitted gaps between parts such as rails and mattress slats. One safety issue that is addressed is the risk that any part of the body of a child under six years becomes wedged or trapped at or above the height of any part of the bed’s sleeping surface in a way which may give rise to any risk of death or personal injury.EN 747-1:2012+A1:2015 includes requirements for ''''''''Instructions for use'''''''' and ''''''''Markings''''''''.CIL recommends that retailers, importers and manufacturers of bunk beds designed for the India or other Asian markets test to EN 747-1:2012+A1:2015 and EN 747-2:2012+A1:2015.Please contact CIL for information on CIL''''''''s furniture testing services. CIL can assess products for compliance to the Indian regulations and the current standards. Test results may be useful for sellers to demonstrate safety compliance and fitness for purpose to potential buyers. Buyers and retailers might wish to examine incoming goods to ensure they are consistent with initial samples by commissioning spot checks.Bunk Bed Test ProceduresThe bunk bed is evaluated using the following procedure, which reflects all of the standard’s requirements for guardrails, end structures, labelling and instructions. The procedure is presented in the same sequence as stated in the regulations. The test operator may choose an alternate sequence to minimize installing and removing the mattress. A videotape that demonstrates the test procedure is available. The test operator records test results on a copy of the Bunk Bed Test Report Form for submittal to the CPSC Office of Compliance.

Children’s Highchair Testing / Children’s Highchair Certification.Children’s high is free standing chair that elevates the child to approximately dining table height, intended for holding the child from 6 months to 36 months of age who is capable of remaining in a sitting position due to his or her own coordination. The test methods specifies the special requirements for dimensions, safe use, and stability of chair.Safety requirements and test methods of children’s high chair are described in the standards EN 14988:2017+A1:2020.CDG provides children’s highchair testing services in India. Contact us for children’s highchair certification as per international standards. How safe is a high chair? Our lab experts check that all high chairs meet the relevant British Standards, including:Construction: We check how well made the high chairs are, looking out for any shoddy finishing, sharp edges or burrs.Strength and durability: We run tests to check the strength and durability of all the important parts of the high chair, such as the locking mechanism for folding high chairs, the tray and the harness, to make sure it won't fail while your little one is sitting in it. We check it won't give out if your child has a tantrum in it, by carrying out a fatigue and impact test where we drop a 23kg weight up and down on the high chair 500 times.Harnesses: A key safety feature, but there are a wide range. A fiddly one will mean you're less likely to bother using it, whereas a good five-point harness will be easy to use and keep your baby safe and secure.Stability: Using a test dummy to simulate a child, we test the forward, rearward and sideways stability of the high chair, to check that it won't topple over and also assess the risk of potential finger traps.Tray drop tests: Trays are removed and dropped on each side, to see whether they break. A broken tray is no use to anyone, and it could be leave sharp edges or small parts that could fit in a baby's mouth.Footrest tests: We apply a weight to the footrest, to replicate a toddler climbing on it, or using it to stand up when in the high chair. We've seen some fail at 10kg, which is around the weight of a one-year-old.Impact tests We whack each high chair with an impact hammer to see if it falls over and if anything breaks. Any bits that do break off, we will check to see how small they are and how sharp to check whether they could pose a danger to small babies. How easy is it to put together? It's probably not the first thing on your mind when choosing a high chair, but once you get it home you've got to get it up. Sometimes it's easier said than done.Assembly In their very own flat-pack nightmare, our assessors scratch their heads over annotated diagrams and pictorial instructions to see just how long it takes to assemble each high chair.Instructions We rate the quality of the instructions and how long it actually takes to put the high chair up and screw everything together – things you can't really tell just by looking at a high chair in the shops.Tools needed We even check for any tools you'll need to use, and check whether any vital parts are missing.Moving and storing Once it's all set up, we get our parent panel testers and experts to fold up the high chairs and move them about, to see just how easy it is to do. We also check how much room they'll take up for storage – will the high chair fit in a cupboard or will you have to prop it up against a wall?

Office screens testing / Office screen certification / Office partition testing / Office partition certification We determine principal dimensions for office screens, mechanical safety requirements of office screens and stability and for the structure of office screens according to EN 1023-1:1996, EN 1023-2:2000, EN 1023-3:2000 standardsCDG provides office screens testing services in India. Contact us for office screens certification as per international standards.Screens are widely used in the commercial space providing dedicated areas, privacy, defined personal space but the ability to communicate and collaborate easily with co-workers. They also are able to absorb sounds and block out visual distractions. Our certification criteria covers strength, stability, durability and general safety.Office Screens – How High is too Low?The height of your office screens impacts immensely on both the visual and acoustic privacy in your office. Choosing the best screen height requires finding a balance between the physical needs and the culture of your company. Some companies require more private spaces while others prefer an open configuration that allows employees to make eye contact and speak to each other across the screens. Some office design experts suggest that a partition height of between 1.2 – 1.3 metres meets the privacy requirements of the modern office but research proves that this is questionable. Research statistics reveal that a screen of this height will provide some visual privacy for seated workers but very minimal acoustic privacy. For decades, acoustic engineers have argued that for partitions to provide substantial acoustic privacy, they must be above ‘seated head height’. Partitions below ‘seated head height’ won’t block voices and noise between work-points and will dramatically increase the amount of unwanted distractions and interruptions. Statistics published by (BIFMA) Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association for human dimensions reveal that the ‘seated head height’ of 95% of the male population ranges up to 1.48m. Therefore, if your screens are to be above the ‘seated head height’ for everyone except the tallest 5% of your male workforce, they must be taller than 1.5m.While the trend is to make office screens lower and lower, for organisations whose workers spend large parts of their day on the telephone, a screen height in excess of 1.5m will be critical to keep their calls confidential and undistracted — if this is a requirement of the nature of their work.A good office screening system should allow you to specify the height to suit the nature of your working style and have good acoustic properties. They should also offer the flexibility of being able to be reconfigured at any time. The noise control in an office environment can be a tricky subject, with many considerations needed of the surroundings. Noise is just unwanted sound, so we need to find ways to reduce this noise transference in specific areas, such as meeting rooms, cellular offices, and kitchen areas as a few examples. Also bear in mind that sometimes we want to keep the noise in, but other times we will want to keep it out.
