CIL provides 'Environmental Inspection' services in India & abroad. Environmental inspection is carried out to check the organisation’s level of compliance with environmental laws and regulations. In order to control their environmental impact, all investigations are taken into consideration, from on-site visits to data collection and analysis. It consists of the inspection of compliance with environmental permits. There are different types of environmental inspections depending on the company’s activity. For example, not only the water or air quality around the facility is inspected, but also problems with hazardous waste, waste management, water discharges, etc. It is usually carried out by representatives of environmental regulatory agencies, after minutious planning and data acquisition at the site. The 4 major steps of an environmental inspection: Step 1: Planning, Describing the context: Setting the context of the inspection plan is essential. It is in this context that the inspection authorities define the scope of the mission according to its objectives and its statutory tasks and competences. Defining the context is very important to target the risks to be analysed. Setting priorities: Risk assessment is an important step in the preparation of the environmental inspection. Priorities are determined by identifying the risks that could result from the various activities and installations of the inspected facility. Then, a risk assessment is established: “high risk, medium risks and low risk”. Defining objectives and strategies: Once the priorities have been set, the objectives of the inspection can be determined. In order to check whether these objectives can and will be achieved, the output and outcomes should be monitored using performance indicators. Among the objectives, compliance with relevant environmental regulatory requirements is always included. The strategy is considered as the way the objectives are to be achieved. Planning and review: The inspection plan and schedule are defined based on the previous steps. The plan contains detailed information on the objectives, the relevant conditions under which the inspection is to be carried out, the strategies and the objectives. On the other hand, the schedule includes the logistic details about the inspection and the inspector(s) assigned. Once the inspection has been carried out and based on the monitoring and evaluation of the inspection plan, it can be reviewed and revised. Step 2: Execution framework, This step sets the structure for the inspection activities. It is important to ensure that the investigation will be carried out effectively, professionally and consistently. Hence, protocols and working instructions are developed. Step 3: Execution and reporting, The investigation can be effectively performed. Inspection activities intended to verify compliance are carried out. Everything is executed according to the protocols set in the previous steps. In the end, the inspector(s) issue a report finalising their investigation, in which all the data and previous reports are reviewed and analysed. Furthermore, the issuing of a new permit or the revision of an existing one can be discussed. Step 4: Performance monitoring, Performance monitoring is mandatory and allows the inspecting authority to check if objectives and targets have been met and to report internally or externally (at national and international level). Performance indicators provide insight on which tools and strategies work best to ensure compliance and whether the inspection authority is meeting its responsibilities. This step provides the information needed to review the inspection plan and possibly reports for external use.

CIL provides Green Audit Services in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. CIL is an ISO 17020 accredited inspection body.Green audits are an essential means of figuring out how large or small a company’s carbon footprint really is, but their usefulness is not yet fully appreciated by everyone. Here’s a look at five reasons and some explanations of why green audits should be seen as positive actions by small, medium and large enterprises alike.1. Efficiency gainsThe process of carrying out a green audit does not deliver benefits in and of itself. However, the process of reporting the findings and opening up access to figures on energy consumption can be very impacting in terms of influencing behavior within even the largest of companies. In many ways, a green audit gives a business a roadmap for finding efficiency gains. This can be very useful in any circumstance but particularly where a company is big enough that even subtle efficiency tweaks can bring very notable rewards.2. Financial savingsEvery business in the world wants to do more with less and save money in any way that is possible and does not impact on revenues or profits. Conducting green audits gives companies clear sight of where they might be able to make major cost savings.Furthermore, the cost savings that green audits are able to highlight and bring to the attention of executives are often relatively straightforward to deliver and sustainable over extended periods of time. In short, the financial incentives for being more energy efficient are rendered very obvious through green audits, and they’re presented in the language of dollars and cents, which has a tendency to help turn strategy ideas into action points very quickly.3. Competitive advantageBeing energy inefficient and contributing on a massive scale to carbon emissions on an annual basis is not something that is yet completely outlawed or an immediate or obvious problem for companies from a competitive standpoint. However, the impacts of corporate contributions to carbon emissions are high on political agendas around the world.Increasingly, laws are being introduced with the aim of incentivizing companies away from the use of non-renewable energy, and that trend is only likely to continue. So, businesses can effectively secure a competitive advantage by using green audits as a means of preparing for future ‘green’ regulations and by equipping themselves with a full and robust understanding of how their own energy use stacks up.4. Brand perceptionRelatively few companies are in a position to be genuinely proud of their own record when it comes to carbon emissions, but those that are can enjoy benefits of an improved perception of their brand. So, for businesses whose contributions to climate change are relatively slight, there is potentially a lot that can be gained from conducting a green audit as a means of quantifying that good performance.Consumer-facing brands are perhaps best placed to take commercial advantage of being a ‘green’ company because there’s every chance a proportion of their customers will be environmentally conscious and impressed by a low carbon emissions score. But business-to-business operators can also take advantage of their ‘green’ status when it comes to recruitment and establishing a brand with which potential employees have positive associations.5. Audits result in real changesLeaving aside the business case for conducting green audits for a moment and getting back to the bigger picture, we know that carbon reporting instigates changes that make a real difference. The end result of keeping a close eye on how efficient or otherwise a business is when it comes to their energy use is reduced emissions and more energy-conscious companies. And, given the scale of carbon emissions contributed by businesses worldwide each year, any means of making a positive impact should be given every possible backing and chance to succeed.

Green Audit is a process of systematic identification, quantification, recording, reporting and analysis of components of environmental diversity of institute. It aims to analyse environmental practices within and outside of the concerned place, which will have an impact on the eco-friendly atmosphere. Green audit is a valuable means for a college to determine how and where they are using the most energy or water or other resources; the college can then consider how to implement changes and make savings. It can create health consciousness and promote environmental awareness, values and ethics. It provides staff and students better understanding of Green impact on campus. If self-enquiry is a natural and necessary outgrowth of a quality education, it could also be stated that institutional self-enquiry is a natural and necessary outgrowth of a quality educational institution. Thus it is imperative that the college evaluate its own contributions toward a sustainable future. As environmental sustainability is becoming an increasingly important issue for the nation, the role of higher educational institutions in relation to environmental sustainability is more prevalent. The rapid urbanization and economic development at local, regional and global level has led to several environmental and ecological crises. On this background it becomes essential to adopt the system of the Green Campus for the institutes which will lead for sustainable development and at the same time reduce a sizable amount of atmospheric CO2 from the environment. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council, New Delhi (NAAC) has made it mandatory that all Higher Educational Institutions should submit an annual Green Audit Report. Moreover, it is part of Corporate Social Responsibility of the Higher Educational Institutions to ensure that they contribute towards the reduction of global warming through carbon footprint reduction measuresAudit Stage:Green Audit was done with the help of co-associates involving different student groups, teaching, and non-teaching staff. The green audit began with the teams walking through all the different facilities at the University, determining the different types of appliances and utilities as well as measuring the usage per item (Watts indicated on the appliance or measuring water from a tap) and identifying the relevant consumption patterns (such as how often an appliance is used) and their impacts. The staff and learners were interviewed to get details of usage, frequency, or general characteristics of certain appliances. Data collection was done in the sectors such as Energy, Waste, Green Area, Carbon footprint, and Water use. University records and documents were verified several times to clarify the data received through surveys and discussions.Methodology:The Management of the University has shown a commitment towards green auditing during the pre-audit meeting. They were ready to encourage all green activities. It was decided to promote all activities that are environmentally friendly such as awareness programs on the environment, campus farming, planting more trees on the campus, etc., after the green auditing. The management of the University was willing to formulate policies based on a green auditing report. In order to perform green audits, the methodology included different tools such as preparation of questionnaires, physical inspection of the campus, observation, and review of the documentation, interviewing key persons, and data analysis, measurements, and recommendations. The study covered the following areas to summarize the present status of environmental management on the campus:Energy ManagementWater ManagementWaste ManagementEnvironment Management.

Green auditing is the process of identifying and determining whether an institution’s practices are eco-friendly and sustainable. Traditionally, we are good and efficient users of natural resources. However, over the period of time excess use of resources like energy, water, chemicals are become habitual for everyone especially, in common areas. The Green audit process was began in the 1970s with an intention of identifying the activities carried out in a given institution or company. This was initiated against the background of growing concern over changing climate and related aspects. Green audit is a tool to identify the range of environmental impacts and assess the compliance of the operations on the development and regular activities within an organisation. It may also assess the compatibility of the operations within an organisation or a company with existing applicable laws and regulations and the expectations of their various stakeholders. It further assesses the possible implications and effect of pollution due to the operations within the organisation. The audit also seeks to identify possible means and methods to save investments, enhance work quality, improve health and safety of their employees, reduce liabilities and reduce the rate of environmental pollution. A continuous process of such audit might result in maintaining the quality of these aspects within the premises of any organisation. Most companies, government and non-government bodies and other institutions conduct green audit aiming:• to ensure that the performance of the institution with respect to environmental activities they are involved in, is in compliance with existing laws and regulations.• To check the functionality and their operating success including water supply, energy related matters and other similar matters that are related to green operations in the campus• To formulate or update the institution’s environmental policy, if warranted.• To measure the environmental impact of operational process related to green activities in the campus.• To measure the performance of each green related operations and actions in the campus. To generate a database of green activities for continuous monitoring to assess the success of each of them.• to identify future potential liabilities.• to align the institution’s developmental and day to day activities with the stated vision, mission, strategies, etc.• to identify possible ways to reduce expenditure and running costs on equipments, appliances, etc. or try enhance revenue income.• to improve process and materials efficiency, and in response to stakeholder requests for increased disclosure. The process of green audit based on operational activities within an institution happens not necessarily based on laws and regulations. It might be largely based on awareness and concerns on environmental performances within and outside the institute’s premises. This further strengthens the fact regarding social responsibilities of the organisation. Majority of the institutions that conducted green audits in the recent past has realised the importance of the same as they could easily manage their operational costs and provide good atmosphere to their stakeholders. The green audit also provides opportunities to identify full range of operations within an organisation, the impacts of maintaining and functioning of its operational goods and services, the actual source of raw materials for different activities within the organisation, the costs of operations of its offices, functional units, and other facilities. It also provide chances to understand the relationship with employees, material suppliers, stakeholders, etc. The recommendations, findings and suggestions that emerge during green audit would certainly help the management of the organisation to set up future action plan that best suits to them.

CIL provides Green Audit Services in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. CIL is an ISO 17020 accredited inspection body. There are a number of benefits to a firm undertaking an Green audit. Some of the benefits are obvious, while others are less easy to identify. Two of the more easily recognised benefits areincreased management effectivenesscost savingsThese will be discussed in turn, and then some of the other, less obvious, benefits will be covered briefly. A Green audit can enable management personnel to become aware of many Green issues of which they formerly may have been less well informed. This is especially the case in organisations with multiple facilities or with large manufacturing operations, where the senior managers and directors are often located at a distance, for example, in the head office. Managers may not have visited many of the sites where there are obvious Green risks and, even if they have, they may not have the appropriate knowledge or training to identify that risks are present. The use of Green audits can provide management with the confidence that any actual or potential risks have been identified. However, auditing by itself does not improve Green performance. A Green audit merely provides a 'snap-shot' of what is happening at that moment in time, and doesn't help to ensure ongoing management effectiveness and the proper operation of systems and procedures. As a tool which aids decision-making and management control, a Green audit is often carried out as part of an overall Green management system.A Green audit should identify opportunities for improvements in an organisation's management, and this will often lead to savings in spending. This is particularly common in the case of 'issue' audits, such as the water or waste audit. The benefits of Green auditing described so far are largely financial, and can be measured directly. A range of less tangible benefits can also be identified, includingincreased awareness of Green policies and responsibilities among the whole workforceincreased management confidence due to a feeling of security that the compliance (and safety) status of the plant is confirmed and documentedfavourable publicityimproved relationship with regulatory authoritiesbetter understanding of consumer demandsHowever, there may also be various perceived disadvantages associated with undertaking a Green audit, for instancedisruption of plant activity while the audit is carried outthe cost of the exercisethe possible perception by staff in the organisation that an audit is a negative process, which assesses their performance. What are the types of environmental audits?Three main types of environmental audits:
Environmental compliance audit – evaluates a company’s environmental performance and environmental responsibility practices, whether the company has complied with legal requirements and other requirements such as ISO 14001. It is usually the most comprehensive and, perhaps, the most expensive.Environmental management audit – verifies whether the company has met the environmental objectives, policies, and performance set by management.Functional environmental audit – focuses on one element or impact of a particular activity, such as wastewater management audits, materials, and air quality monitoring.

CIL provides Green Audit Services in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. CIL is an ISO 17020 accredited inspection body. The term “Green” means eco-friendly or not damaging the environment. This can acronymically be called as “Global Readiness in Ensuring Ecological Neutrality” (GREEN). Green Audit can be defined as systematic dentification, quantification, recording, reporting and analysis of components of Green diversity. Green accounting can be defined as systematic identification quantification, recording, reporting & analysis of components of ecological diversity & expressing the same in financial or social terms. “Green Auditing”, an umbrella term, is known by another name “Green Auditing”. The ‘Green Audit’ aims to analyse Green practices within and outside the college campus, which will have an impact on the eco-friendly ambience. It was initiated with the motive of inspecting the work conducted within the organizations whose exercises can cause risk to the health of inhabitants and the environment. Through Green Audit, one gets a direction as how to improve the condition of environment and there are various factors that have determined the growth of carrying out Green Audit.Educational institutions have broad impacts on the world around them, both negative and positive. The activities pursued by campus can create a variety of adverse Green impacts. But they are also in a unique position as educational institutions to be leaders in pursuing Green sustainable solutions. On the occasion of World Environment Day – 2015 an initiative was taken by CIL and expressed its commitment to sustainability while forming a committee to conduct audit of campus and its facilities. Organisation has taken a number of positive steps to reduce its Green impact. But many areas remain in which substantial improvements can be made. This report serves to highlight some accomplishments of and to make recommendations for improving the campus Green and Green sustainability. We have focused on certain indicators, covering an extremely wide range of Green impacts. For each indicator, we establish a benchmark to evaluate Organisation’s overall performance. We examine the performance of Organisation’s on each of these indicators, and offer recommendations about how the campus can reduce its Green impact within each indicator. We hope that the time-to-time Green Audit will provide an accurate snapshot of Organisation’s Green impact at this point in time, and that it will aid the campus in prioritizing positive steps it can take to improve overall sustainability. We intend this document to be revisited annually and updated by the Organisation.Green Auditing is an independent assessment performed by different organisations to ensure that they are complying with the Green Policies. It examines the amount of risk or injury or actual harm caused and determines the types of Pollution produced by assessing the range of locations, procedures and activities. This Auditing procedure is a pragmatic management tool that helps an industry or organisation verify compliance with Green norms or requirements, evaluate the effectiveness of the Green management system, assess risks, and identify and correct Gree  hazards. It is the examination of accounts of revenues and costs of Green and natural resources, their estimation, depreciation and natural resources, their estimation depreciations and values recorded in the books of accounts. The Auditing procedure represents the evaluation of utilisation of raw materials, products and utilities as well as adequate maintenance of the Green Management System and its efficient operation towards the implementation of Green laws in an independent, transparent and systematic order. There are several cases where the Green Audit has not only helped in reducing pollution in the industry sector but also helped in improving their bottom line.

CIL provides Green Audit Services in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. CIL is an ISO 17020 accredited inspection body.

CIL provides Green Audit Services in Bengaluru(Bangalore), Karnataka, India. CIL is an ISO 17020 accredited inspection body. The term ‘Green Audit’ and ‘Environmental Audit’ mean differently to different people. Green Auditing is a systematic assessment of day-to-day activity with reference to the utilisation of resources and waste management. In the 7th norm of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council New Delhi, (NAAC), the Green Audit is assigned. NAAC is one of India’s self-governing organisations that impart the institutions as Grade A, B or C according to the marks assigned at the time of recognition. The NAAC has made it compulsory for all Higher Educational Institutions to submit an annual Green Audit Report. In recent times, we saw many institutions take a lot of good measures to tackle these problems but are not well documented because there is a lack of green documentation awareness.ObjectiveThe main objective of the green audit varies with the type of operational activities the organisation performs. For example, in the case of higher educational institutes like universities; green audit is a part of the internal requirement. Execution of mitigation measures and green auditing is a positive situation for all the colleges, the students, the teachers and the planet. What are the steps included in a Green Audit?Water auditExamining the facilities of untreated water intake and determining the facilities for water treatment. Harvesting of water by simply storing and using it at a time of scarcity is one of the best methods. The concerned auditor should look into the relevant method that can be adopted to balance the demand and supply of water.Energy auditIt copes with energy conservation, consumption and related pollution. The auditor targets the acceptance of the best energy consuming methods and finds whether these methods are conservatively using the energy or not.Health auditWithin the institutes, it aims to study and examine occupational diseases and safety measures. The college encourages students to respect the environment and conserves it through plantations.Environmental quality auditIt studies and examines the air quality, noise level and the various programs undertaken by the institute to increase the quality of the environment. To decrease the Carbon dioxide level, we should maintain the Green Belt.Carbon accountingIt undertakes the measure of the majority of Carbon dioxide equivalents exhaled by the institution so that carbon accounting is done. It is very necessary to know how much an institution contributes to sustainable development. In order to make the campus eco-friendlier, the auditor should take and practice to lower the Greenhouse Gases. At the Institution level, the green audit focuses on Green Campus, Water Conservation and its Management, Waste Management, Air Pollution, Animal Welfare, Energy Management, Carbon Footprint etc. The above points are implemented by the Institution Management. What are the benefits of Green Audit? It would help to protect the surrounding environment.Recognise the cost-saving methods by applying effective waste minimising and managing techniques. It empowers the institution to give a better shape to environmental performance.
