You will need to demonstrate to our officers that you have met the duties required by the Fire Safety Order. When trying to establish whether the legislative requirements are being complied with, our officers will use the CDG Audit form to record their findings. The audit form references the different articles of the Fire Safety Order and you will be expected to show that you taken into account the ‘Areas of Consideration’ noted within the form.

It is good practice to document your fire safety measures and during the audit our officers will request to see the following:
Fire Risk AssessmentAction plans related to any significant findings of the fire risk assessmentEmergency plans for the premises (what to do in the event of a fire)Records of staff training and fire drillsRecords of testing and maintenance for the fire alarm systemRecords of testing and maintenance for the emergency lightingRecords of testing and maintenance of firefighting equipment (e.g. extinguishers)In addition our officers may also wish to talk to members of staff to confirm their level of fire safety awareness.
The audit will typically conclude with a walk around your premises. The purpose of this is to confirm the validity of everything discussed previously.

Safety Audit is a form of risk analysis and evaluation in which a systematic investigation is carried out in order to determine the extent to which the conditions are present that provide for the development and implementation of an effective and efficient safety policy. The main objective of safety audit is to carry out a systematic, critical appraisal of all potential hazards involving personnel, plant services and operation method, and to ensure that safety and health system fully satisfy the legal requirements. Depending on the requirements of the occupancy, the audit can focus attention on various aspects of a safety system such as fire and explosion prevention, protection and emergency management. CIL has a statutory duty to enforce the provisions of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) in the county, to reduce the risk of fire causing death or serious injury to persons and to protect property.

Our role is to provide practical fire safety advice and guidance to help you meet you legal obligations, which is partly achieved through our regular free workplace fire safety online sessions.

We also conduct fire safety audits, which examine premises and relevant documents to ascertain how the premises is being managed and if the FSO is being complied with. Fire safety audits and inspections are conducted by competent staff.

As part of the audit process we may require to inspect the following documents as evidence of compliance, which is then followed by a visual examination of the premises.

A suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment, including details of the significant findings.

Fire safety policy.

Emergency evacuation plan and fire drill records.

Staff fire safety training records (induction/refresher/fire extinguishers).

Fire alarm system test records by management and competent engineer.

Emergency lighting system test records by management and competent engineer.

Fire extinguisher test records by a competent person.

Fixed electrical wiring test record for the building by a competent person.

Portable Appliance Test (PAT) records for electrical equipment by a competent person.

The above list is not exhaustive and other evidence may be required depending on the nature of the premises and/or the activities being conducted.

Audits of premises are prioritised by risk.

Certain incidents, trends or initiatives may redirect the focus of the inspection programme to other premises types. Fire safety audits and inspections are also conducted in the following circumstances:

Alleged fire risk (complaint).

Post fire audit (following a fire).

Follow-up audit (following a previous audit).

In consultation with other authorities (e.g. premises licence application).

On request from others (regulators or owner/occupiers).

Once a fire safety audit or fire risk assessment is completed, the fire safety auditor will discuss the findings and explain practical methods of reducing fire risks to an acceptable level. The fire safety auditor will then prepare a detailed fire safety report setting out prioritised recommendations in order to facilitate compliance with fire safety legislation.

Fire Safety audit is found to be an effective tool for assessing fire safety standards of an organization or an occupancy. It helps the people to identify the areas for improvement and evolve an action plan. A comprehensive fire safety audit is a structured and systematic examination of an organization or occupancy to identify the hazards from fire. In other words, the fire safety audits are structured to check current adequacy of components, services and equipment; report of the expected performance, make recommendations for the compliance with the existing building rules, regulations, codes and standards, and the requirement of providing a safe place for living or carry out commercial or industrial activities. It is presumed that a comprehensive fire safety audit can cover various aspects which are related to design, operation and maintenance of the facilities, and even the review of inherent fire hazards associated with the day to day activities in a building. It assesses the building for compliance with the existing building codes, national standards and the building fire safety regulations. In addition to complete building auditing, they can even be tailored to suit a specific fire protection system. The audit findings are generally published in a report which also provides recommendations on how to remedy any non-compliance that were identified. Thus the fire safety audits will allow us to identify any non conformances and / or provide recommendations to the client allowing them to attend to these matters and therefore seek to achieve compliance with relevant legislation. It may be remembered here that the fire safety audits are not limited to a desk top review of available documentations or a visual inspection. On the contrary an active system test can also be carried out to ensure all systems operate and interface as designed and included in a fire safety audit report. Contact us for fire safety audit.

Fire safety inspection is conducted to assess the potential fire safety hazards in a building. Its type and frequency varies from one to another, depending on the location of the building or installation, relevant laws, local and special regulations applicable for the type of building occupancy.

A fire safety inspector will check out the workplace, the activities undertaken there and your management of fire safety. They’ll also audit your fire risk assessment to ensure that you’re complying with fire safety law.

Fire safety inspections are important to conduct for a residential space or a business. Fire safety inspections can help to ensure that equipment is operating properly and can help prevent any potential dangerous issues from occurring. There are many benefits that can arise from fire safety inspections. A primary advantage of fire safety inspections is that inspections can help to prevent fires from happening.

For example, fire safety inspections can involve checking for fire hazards within a building. Check out some more of the most common reasons to schedule fire safety inspections for a residence or commercial facility.

  1. Inspections involve checking smoke alarms to make sure they are working without an issue. Smoke alarms play a key role in preventing fires from spreading, and the alarms can warn building occupants about a fire that could be starting.
  2. A fire escape plan can be checked during a fire safety inspection to make sure it is a proper plan and to ensure it is updated.
  3. Fire pumps can be tested during a fire safety inspection process. The fire pump provides water for a fire protection system. It is a key part for system components such as fire sprinklers.
  4. Fire extinguishers can be checked when a fire safety inspection occurs. Fire extinguishers are important to keep you safe. If a fire does occur, fire extinguishers can avoid letting fires spread out and can try to eliminate the fire completely. Checking a fire extinguisher, which is a part of the fire safety system that typically lasts for a long time, is an important part of the fire safety inspection process.
  5. Exit signs and exit doors are also important parts of a fire safety system. They can be checked to make sure exits are safe and the right ways to go in case of a fire.
  6. A fire safety inspection can ensure that all equipment, such as smoke alarms and fire extinguishers, are located in the right places in the house or building.
  7. If there is an issue with any equipment, such as a fire alarm system, it can be fixed during the inspection process. It is important to make sure equipment works so that it can help in the case of a fire.
  8. Fire sprinklers are also essential parts of a fire protection system. They can be checked in an inspection. Fire sprinklers consist of water in pipes, and the sprinkler can spray water to control and eliminate flames that result from a potential fire. Fire sprinklers should be working properly, and they are key to a proper fire protection system. They can be very effective and beneficial in the case of a fire, and an inspection can ensure that they are working.
A fire inspection can also involve checking equipment such as emergency lights. Emergency lights can help to make the environment safer and can ensure that the residential area or facility is prepared in case of a fire.

CIL Provides Accredited Fire Safety Audit in Jaipur, Rajasthan, india. CiL is an ISO 17020 accredited agency for 'fire safety inspection / fire safety audit'.

A fire safety audit is an examination of your business premises and a fire safety inspector will provide you with relevant documents to see how your premises are being managed in terms of fire safety. When visiting your premises, a fire inspector may talk to your employees to get their understanding of fire safety and awareness to which they should be trained too. The visits for a fire safety audit are usually prearranged, and the audit will include checking what processes and documentation that you have already in place and advise you accordingly. A legal requirement is to have a responsible person for a building, for example, the owner, manager or health and safety officer, have responsibility to ensure that the fire safety regulations are upheld. Failing to comply with this, can earn the business owner large fines or even a prison sentence. When it comes to fire safety, being prepared for a fire is better than having any form of damage control.

What can I expect from a fire safety audit?

Completing a thorough inspection of any commercial business, a fire safety audit is a thorough inspection of any non-residential premises. It will be carried out by a fire safety inspector, sometimes the official title can vary. As mentioned, the audit could involve talking to employees about their understanding of the fire safety procedures in your premises. The necessary documentation can include:

    • A fire risk assessment
    • Records of any fire drills and staff fire training
    • List of dangerous substances in the premises
    • Proof that the fire prevention systems have been regularly maintained and tested
    • Documentation detailing what to do in the event of a fire including any fire evacuation procedures.

Depending on your business the amount of documentation can vary dramatically. From an IT company, to a chip shop, every business is unique. No matter the industry, every office design needs to incorporate the latest fire safety and prevention methodology. Our advice will be to look up your local fire safety laws and get up to date with any recent changes that may affect your business. This will help you get ahead of the game and ensure that you are following to the letter.

What happens after a fire safety audit?

Depending on the score following the outcome of your audit, depends on what happens next. If the fire safety officer finds a complete breach of the fire safety regulations, it is up to the fire safety inspector about how they respond. If the matter is of a serious nature, the officer can issue an enforcement notice. This notice will set out a strict deadline for when the work has to be completed by. The officer can use emergency powers to restrict the use of the building until the problems have been resolved. If the mistake is minor, they may take a more informal approach by discussing the mistakes with you and the responsible persons to rectify it straight away. If you are unsure how safe your business is, it maybe worth booking a fire safety check with Cooke & Bern to get all the relevant documentation, and we will be able to advise you on fire safety systems that maybe of use to your business

    Fire Safety Audit

An essential element of any fire safety management system is the audit process. The performance of key elements of a fire safety management system should be periodically audited to ensure continual improvement in the management of fire safety. The emphasis is on an organisation to demonstrate that it has fulfilled legal duties as set out in fire safety legislation.

We audit the following areas for evidence of fire safety management:

    • The fire risk assessment
    • Action plans related to significant findings of the fire risk assessment
    • Emergency evacuation plans
    • Means of escape – including horizontal and vertical escape
    • Emergency routes e.g. fire safety signage, emergency lighting
    • Internal and external fire spread
    • Preventative measures e.g. anti-arson measures, fire safety engineering solutions
    • Protective measures e.g. fire detection/fire suppression, fire-resisting walls and floors

We also make clear what management responsibilities are required to maintain and operate the relevant fire safety systems.

The following are some of the factors we consider in assessing fire risk for new and existing buildings:

    • Anticipated likelihood of a fire occurring

CIL Provides Accredited Fire Safety Audit Services in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. CIL is an ISO 17020 accredited agency for 'fire safety inspection / fire safety audit'.

We are often asked what a fire safety audit is and this can be quite concerning. To put it simply, they are a physical inspection of a property to establish how the property, usually they are non-residential, is managed with regards to fire safety. More often than not, they are pre-arranged by a company that is looking to be proactive about the care of their employees. The audit will involve checking documentation, speaking to various members of staff to establish what they do and don't know and checking what procedures are in place.

Legally, "responsible persons" for a building such as business owners and managers have a responsibility for ensuring that fire regulations are complied with. Failure to do so is a serious crime that can lead to large fines, imprisonment or both.

Prevention is always better than cure and that is certainly the case with fire safety. It is understandable if you are unsure how safe your premises are but it is not something that can be ignored. You need to arrange a risk assessment that can be conducted by a trained professional. They will immediately be able to spot any potential problems and offer sensible, practical solutions. They will also be able to advise you on fire extinguisher placement, sprinkler systems and the installation of fire doors.

    What should you expect?

A fire safety audit is a thorough inspection of your premises along with all the latest documentation. It may depend on who is carrying out the inspection and who has arranged it for what exactly takes place. If you have requested the audit, you will be given helpful advice but if it is an official fire safety inspector carrying out an official inspection, it may well involve interviews and demands for immediate action.

    What happens next?

The aim of the fire inspection, if carried out by an inspector is to establish how well you have scored. If your premises or the documentation are in breach of any laws, the officer will decide what response is required. This will depend on the severity of the breach and what steps are already in place to comply with the regulations.

Minor breaches usually get a more informal response and often include suggestions and instructions of what needs to done to remedy the problem. This will involve talking to the 'responsible person' and requesting that they take immediate action. More often than not, the inspector will return to check that the requests have been complied with.

Where serious breaches have taken place, an enforcement notice may be issued. A deadline will be set for the work to be completed. The deadline will be ample time to carry out the changes but will also be enough time to carry out an appeal if the business owner feels that this is necessary. In the worst case scenario and the inspector feels that the premises are an immediate danger they can impose emergency powers to restrict operations. If the responsible person has failed to adequately comply with fire safety law, the inspector can also initiate a prosecution.

Once all logistical arrangements have been confirmed with the relevant British Safety Council account manager, the allocated auditor will make contact with the appropriate person within the organisation no later than ten (10) days before the audit start date to discuss and agree the audit details (timings, interviews, site inspections, induction process, security / PPE arrangements, etc). This specification document (see section 8) outlines the various forms of information and documentation that the auditor is likely to request for review, together with personnel who may be requested for interview. It would be advantageous if relevant documentation is readily available (either electronically or in hard copy) for the auditor. Some of this material may be retained by the auditor during the audit process (with explicit consent of the auditee). All British Safety Council auditors are mindful of operational demands and requirements and will apply as much flexibility with the audit schedule as is reasonably practicable to accommodate such matters. Upon completion of the audit process, a comprehensive report is prepared by the auditor and will be issued within a maximum of 28 days. The report content will include:

    • Executive summary and background information

    • Observed strengths and recommendations for continual improvement

What is a Fire Safety Audit?

In simplest terms, a Fire Safety Audit checks that the building matches the Approved Building Design. It’s an annual inspection and review of Fire Safety Measures and is part of the Essential Safety Measures (ESM) requirement for the building. It includes a review of the building and related documentation such as equipment test reports, training procedures, block plans etc.

Fire Extinguishers – This is among the most common hand-held firefighting equipment available. The extinguishing agent inside the extinguisher is used to combat the flames. The substance used are:–Dry powder–Water–CO2–Foam–Wet Chemical2. Fire Hoses – This puts out a large fire, by letting out a large stream of water. It comes in a fire hose reel that extends up to 30 metres.3. Fire Buckets – It maybe the simplest form of fire safety equipment but is still useful. The buckets are made of plastic or metal and contains water or soil to douse the fire.4. Fire and Welding Blankets – Another way to put out a fire is by smothering it. Blankets ranging from a size of 1.2m x 1.2m to 1.8m x 1.75m can be used depending on the kind of dwelling it is being used for.5. Flamezorb – This is a non-toxic, easy to clean powder that efficiently smothers a fire. Every bag of this powder can fill up 10 litres of a fire bucket.Precaution is always better than cure and the same rule is applicable in case of fire safety. One must be aware and request for a routine fire safety audit and ensure that there is enough fire safety equipment in the building in case of an emergency. The Fire Safety Management Audit process involves an in-depth examination of an organisation’s fire safety management system(s) and associated arrangements. The audit focuses on the key aspects of managing fire safety within the workplace and offers a structured path for continual improvement towards best practice status. Utilising extensive industry experience and acknowledging aspects of universally recognised management systems and fire safety standards, the British Safety Council has developed a fire safety management audit model that objectively evaluates preventive and protective fire safety management systems and arrangements against current best practice techniques. The audit model is reflective of the recognised PLAN – DO – CHECK – ACT management cycle.

CIL Provides Accredited Fire Safety Audit Services in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. CIL is an ISO 17020 accredited agency for 'fire safety inspection / fire safety audit'.

Audits on fire detection and protection systems are primarily aimed at ensuring that they work correctly and are suited to the fire hazard.

A fire safety audit is an examination of the premises and relevant documents to ascertain how the premises are being managed with regards to fire safety. Fire safety audit is an effective tool for assessing fire safety standards of an organization or occupancy. Our comprehensive fire safety audit addresses the inherent fire hazards associated with the day-to-day activities in an occupancy and recommend measures to reduce the potential fire hazards.

Our fire safety inspection helps to ensure that the owners and occupiers of buildings are meeting their responsibilities under the legislation, that buildings are fitted with correct fire safety installations required by the fire safety standard, and that these fire safety installations are maintained in an operational condition. We carry out fire safety inspections in accordance with our own risk-based fire safety audit standard (checklist).

We begin our assignment by retrieving data before visiting the site to audit the existing fire safety systems and equipment (gathering of information on existing means, visual assessment without dismantling components or taking readings or measurements). Based on the site surveys, we analyse the fire risk by zone and the compliance of the fire safety systems with regulatory requirements and the demands of the company and/or insurer:

    · Classification of the activities and fire risks.

    · Definition of the protection required by the rules in force.

    · Listing of the discrepancies between the existing systems and the applicable rules.

Fire safety audit is an effective tool for assessing fire safety standards of an organization or an occupancy. A comprehensive fire safety audit should address the inherent fire hazardous associated with the day to day activities in an occupancy and recommend measures to reduce the potential fire hazards. In spite of bringing stringent fire safety regulations by many state governments and local bodies, still the numbers of fires in the country are on the increase, resulting in the loss of many life and property. An effective building maintenance policy is an essential feature of fire prevention. However, it is observed, that a large number of occupancies do not have dedicated maintenance staff and as a result, most of the maintenance scheduling and documentation is handled by an employee with no experience with maintenance procedures or legislative requirements. It is also observed that many of the occupants and owners have not been aware, that many of the fire safety features of their building had not been maintained in accordance with the legislative requirements. Fire Safety Audit is a structured tool to deeply see through the efficiency, effectiveness & reliability on Fire Safety Management System and its associated arrangements of a facility. A well-structured auditing program identifies various organizational risks, helps to reinforce & reduce by complying with applicable standards & regulations, and also provides the structured recommendation on continual improvement.

Thus, building occupiers are required to ensure that all fire safety installations in their building are maintained in accordance with fire safety regulations / codes prevailed from time to time. The occupiers are also required to keep records of maintenance of their fire safety installations in the building. The fire safety inspection will involve an inspection of the building's fire safety installations and an inspection of the maintenance records for each of the fire safety installations in the building.

Normally, the inspection checklist will be completed during the inspection of the property and the owner / occupier will receive, a copy of the completed checklist signed by the inspecting officer. If no problems are found to exit, the inspection is complete. Where it is found that the building does not comply with legislative requirements or that fire safety systems have not been correctly maintained, the faults will be noted on the inspection report together with the action required by the owner / occupier and the time by which the owner / occupier must have faults corrected. Fire safety inspection is a visual check of fire safety in a building using a standard fire safety inspection checklist of legislative requirements. The Directorate of Maharashtra Fire Safety Services, has framed a fire safety checklist for buildings, which covers many areas such as the ownership, structural details, active and passive fire protection installations of the building, fire prevention and awareness measures to be followed, etc.

The checklist recommended by the Directorate of Maharashtra Fire Services are only a sample and if necessary, it can be extended to include many other areas. Fire Safety inspections are generally carried out by the qualified officers of the local fire brigade or an agency authorized by the local fire brigade or fire safety consultants.

CDG provides mechanical seal inspection as per ASTM F1158 & testing as per ASTM F1157.
    ROLE OF SEALS
    • A seal is a closure device that serves as a check against tampering or unauthorized opening. If designed and attached properly, a seal should be severed or mutilated before entry is possible.
    • Seals designed to delay intrusion are commonly constructed of solid steel or cable.
    • Seals can provide a psychological deterrent by ensuring that evidence of forced entry or tampering is clearly visible and that the crime can not be subsequently hidden or covered up.
    • Seals can be used for material control, accountability, and inventory by associating the seal identification number with the contents.
    • An intact seal applied within the context of a strong seal control program provides for an increased level of fidelity of cargo security. This reduces the number of personnel needed to control secured items and minimizes the potential of exposure to possible hazardous contents.
    • Seals are intended to be part of an integrated security program. Seals should not be used as stand-alone protection.
    WHEN SEALS SHOULD BE USED
    • When there is a written requirement.
    • When there is concern about pilferage by in-house personnel or crime by outsiders. If the threat is from outsiders, seals with some level of forced entry protection should be selected.
    • If a damaged or broken seal can be discovered in a timely manner and appropriate countermeasures can be implemented to prevent further criminal activity.
    • As part of a comprehensive security program.
Seals should be used in conjunction with a seal control program that is part of an integrated security system. Security systems can consist of multiple components (intrusion detection, closed circuit television, access control, security personnel, lighting, barriers, etc.). Integration produces a system that will provide a high level of confidence and protection in depth (multiple layers of protection). If a security system component fails to function in an integrated system, the other components and layers will continue to provide some level of protection until the failed component is repaired or replaced. Seals and a seal control program are examples of components that can be important to an integrated security system by providing additional layers of protection.

    Fire Safety Audits

Fires can have a devastating financial impact upon businesses of all sizes, destroying the livelihood of business owners, operators, and employees, and in many cases leading to bankruptcy. Whether large or small, a fire can cause irreparable damage to a business' infrastructure and stock, resulting in significant losses to productivity and profit. Statistics show that a large portion of businesses that suffer a fire do not continue operating after the incident.

Therefore it is critical for business owners and their insurers to implement all fire prevention methods available and to ensure that properties and people are protected against a fire loss. This can be achieved by installing suitable fire alarm systems and extinguishers, and by establishing and maintaining a fire safety policy.

We conduct fire safety audits that involve an examination of the premises, fire alarm systems, and firefighting equipment, as well as examination of the relevant documents regarding the management of fire safety on the premises. Our engineers conduct walk-through inspections and talk to members of staff to confirm their level of fire safety awareness.

We employ our thorough understanding of fires and their root causes to provide a valuable assessment of occupants’ ability to prevent a fire ignition, and utilise our many years of experience investigating fires across different types of properties to assess the occupants’ ability to mitigate and control the spread of fire.

During our audits, we request for the occupants to demonstrate that they have met the fire protection requirements mandated by local codes and agencies. We also verify the adequacy and effectiveness of the following fire protection systems:

    • Fire alarm and firefighting equipment
    • Emergency procedures used to instruct on what to do in the event of fire
    • Records of staff training and fire drills
    • Records of testing and maintenance of the fire alarm system
    • Records of testing and maintenance of the emergency lighting
    • Records of testing and maintenance of firefighting equipment, such as fire extinguishers

Our fire safety audits will typically conclude with a walk around the premises to highlight findings and confirm the validity of everything discussed.

These audits have been utilised by business owners wishing to ensure their compliance with applicable local codes and regulations, as well as by insurers seeking validation of policy warranties.

Our priority is not to catch violations or document deficiencies, but instead to inform and educate the responsible person on the premises about how to meet their required local codes and standards, and the insurance policy terms and conditions.

Another name of the Fire Safety Certification Services is the Certificate of Conformity to the Requirements of Fire Safety. The function of the given certificate is to prove conformity of the production to the approved rules of safety.

Fire inspection is conducted by the fire departments to assess the potential fire safety hazards in a building. Its type and frequency varies from one to another, depending on the location of the building or installation, relevant laws, local and special regulations applicable for the type of building occupancy.

The building under inspection should meet a set of standard codes related to fire safety:

    • Fire detection and alarm systems, types and operational state of fire extinguishers, fire hydrants and pumps, means of egress and emergency signage etc.

What Is on A Fire Safety Inspection Report That You Should Be Aware Of?

    • When it comes to CDG, property owners must be aware of all rules and regulations. Staying in compliance will help you to pass a safety inspection report. A fire inspector will visit your property to complete an inspection and you want to be prepared. Fire protection features must be maintained in order to pass your inspection.
    • Fire Protection and Alarm Systems
    • In your facility, any fire protection systems, as well as alarms, must be in working order. The inspection sheet will include such items and they will be checked. If you own a building that has sprinklers, they must be in proper working order. Fire alarms must also be working correctly. Alarms and smoke detectors will be checked and reviewed by the inspector. Review all of these areas on a regular basis to ensure they are working and will pass inspection.

    Certified Fire Extinguishers

    • Every property must have a fire extinguisher on-site to protect individuals in the event of a fire. The type of building you operate will determine the number and type of fire extinguisher you are required to have on-site. Fire extinguishers must be certified and operational. The inspector will be checking to make sure that all fire extinguishers are working and are certified. When you do not have the proper fire extinguishers, you can fail your inspection.

    Emergency Lighting and Exits

    • In your building, the Chicago fire safety inspection will also include a review of the emergency lighting and exit areas. All emergency lighting needs to be functioning properly. This includes all light bulbs are operational and that exits are clear and easily defined.
    • Depending on the type of building you have, the exits may include lighted EXIT signs or flashing lights during an emergency. Every exit needs to be clearly marked and have the appropriate signage and lighting so that individuals inside know where to go and how to exit in the event of a fire.
    • The fire inspector will also be reviewing the outside of your building and checking for sightlines. The fire department needs to be able to recognize your building. The address needs to be clearly marked so that your property can be found if a fire occurs and 911 is called.
    • Any fire hydrants need to be clear of debris on the property. Any bushes or other landscaping must remain clear of the fire hydrant so that the fire department can easily access water when a fire occurs nearby.
